Remember those coffee commercials with the jingle, “Celebrate the moments of your life?” Well, Chai Mitzvah is a program that helps people do just that, celebrate the moments of their lives. Chai Mitzvah is a way to mark the significant, transitional times of life with a year of Jewish study and celebration. Why should only thirteen year olds get to do that? This exciting—and inspiring–program has been in existence for three years, independent of Charter Oak. Now, Charter Oak is putting a new twist to it (are you surprised?). We have joined forces with Chai Mitzvah to create a group that approaches the study of Judaism through the arts.
We are looking for Jewish artists to join us. You don’t have to create Jewish art (whatever that is), you just have to identify yourself as a member of the Jewish community . We meet on the second Monday of the month at 6:30PM at Hebrew High School of New England, in the arts building.
Come, explore how the creative process can be enhanced through Judaism and how Judaism can be enhanced through the creative process. Please feel free to bring other Jewish artists with you.
As far as we know, nothing like this has been tried before. It is uncharted territory and we want you to be a part of it.
