Join us for Hartford’s signature holiday event held, this year, at PolytechnicON20, One State Street, 20th Floor, Hartford, CT.

Charter Oak is currently seeking the following to help us make Forgeries a success:

-Items to be donated for our silent auction such as gift certificates, gift baskets, jewelry, etc

-Event sponsors

-Artists to donate a Forgery for our live auction. Artists are asked to copy one of ten famous paintings in your own inimitable style. This year’s famous originals are:

1. Frida Kahlo, The Two Fridas

2. Marc Chagall, Above the Town

3. Salvador Dali, The Persistence of Memory

4. Leonardo da Vinci, Mona Lisa

5. Grandma Moses, Sugaring Time

6. Diego Velazquez, Las Meninas

7. Henri de Toulous-Lautrec, Divan Japonais

8. Andrew Wyeth, Christina’s World

9. Katsushika Hokusai, The Great Wave Off Kanagawa

10. Norman Rockwell, Freedom from Want

Your work will be auctioned off the night of the big event and you will have the option of donating the entire amount to Charter Oak or retaining 20% of the auction price. This is a great way to gain exposure, help out a good cause and have fun!

Let us know which painting you choose by September 30. Your work would need to be dropped off on Monday, November 15. Your rendition should be medium-sized and valued between $300 and $500. All artists are encouraged to participate (photographers, sculptors, screenprinters, fabric artists, etc.)!

Forgeries, Hartford’s signature event will take place on Saturday, February 11th 2012 at Union Station.

Forge ahead with the New Year at Forgeries, Hartford’s party of the year! This year’s theme is New Year’s Resolutions. Forgeries is the antidote for the post-holiday doldroms. Over 20 local artists will re-create famous works of art in their own style to be sold off in a raucous live auction. All proceeds go to benefit the 1,000 young artists in our Youth Arts Institute. Bid on paintings, dance like no one’s watching (except maybe Mona Lisa), and cross a good deed off your list. Fine food and drink, live music, fortune tellers and other surprises. Funds raised at Forgeries will go directly to support Charter Oak’s Youth Arts Institute which offers free high-quality arts and literacy-based programming before school, after school, on weekends and during the summer. The program serves over 1,000 children, ages 4 -18 and, in addition to excellent programming, provides them with healthy snacks and meals. Students in our Youth Arts Institute learn critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, time management, team-work, understanding and respect for others–all at no cost to them. This programming is vitally important in our community where 47% of children live in poverty, one of the highest rates of child poverty in the nation. Our Youth Arts Institute focuses on prevention for these at-risk young people and helps them grow and flourish into young leaders who contribute positively to society.

Event Sponsorships- At the Crystal Level of sponsorship at $500, you receive Company name/logo in our event program, Company name/logo on our Forgeries sponsor webpage with a link to your website, Company name/logo printed on our mailed invitations (our mailing list includes over 5,000 people in Greater Hartford) and 6 complementary tickets to Forgeries for your staff, family and friends.
