The newspaper was created by a group of people who had experienced homelessness and their allies who stand in solidarity with them. Initially dedicated to being a space where the stories and perspectives of individuals could be shared, Beat of the Street has grown to become more than a street newspaper. Innovative programs that have been developed by its members include BOTS Pots and BOTS Center for Creative Learning. We will continue to explore new ways to address the problem of homelessness through BOTS activities created in response to our on-going dialogue with those who have experienced housing insecurity.
