Charter Oak Cultural Center is once again setting the summer to music with our Summer Courtyard Concerts series.
From streets of Buenos Aires to the foot of the Andes, The Americas Ensemble take the listener on a Latin-inspired journey that features music by renowned composers such as Piazolla, Gardel, Pujol, Montes and Lauro as well as exciting new arrangements of traditional music.
The group is comprised of three outstanding virtuosos: Guitarist Daniel Salazar, flutist Gonzalo Cortes and special guest, multi-instrumentalist Eugenio Huanca. Together they present a fascinating program that explores the rich and colorful melodies, rhythms and dances of the Americas.
This special concert will highlight the sensuous Tango music of Argentina, the intricate syncopated dance rhythms of Venezuela and the exotic melodies of the Andes. Featured on the program will be Suite Buenos Aires by Pujol, Alfonsina y El Mar by Ramirez, Alma Llanera by Gutierrez and music from Paraguay, Chile and Bolivia.
Food and drink will be available at 1:30 p.m. The 60-minute concert will begin at 2 p.m.
“Summer Courtyard Concerts” is funded through a grant by The Evelyn W. Preston Memorial Fund, Bank of America. N.A., Trustee.
