Charter Oak Cultural Center will host “Speaking Love to Hate: A Community Gathering for Peace” on December 21 at 7 p.m. It is a free community event.
The evening will feature brief readings of inspirational text from local faith and community leaders as well as a candlelight vigil. Regardless of what social ill brings you to the event – gun violence, terrorism, gender injustice, Islamphobia, transphobia racism – “Speaking Love to Hate” will offer a safe, reflective space to consider our connectedness and participate in community.
Participants will be invited to participate in a community art project that will grace the exterior of Charter Oak Cultural Center throughout the holiday season. They will also be able to add their support to two ongoing media projects – one focused on gender injustice and one focused on the refugee crisis.
“Speaking Love to Hate: A Community Gathering for Peace” will take place at 7 p.m. on Monday, December 21 at Charter Oak Cultural Center. The event is free.
